Constantly evolving at an unprecedented scale to catch up with the ways humans combat the security challenges, the technology of biometrics is whispering its significant importance all around the world.


This field of science strikes the right balance between computers, security, and biological characteristics of an individual based on unique recognizable, and verifiable data. Biometric systems comprise four basic components.

Input Interface - A scanner or reader to record and scan the biometric factors like fingerprints, voice, retinal patterns, facial recognition, hand patterns, etc. for the process of identification

Processing Unit - A software program that processes the captured data into digital formats and compares new biometric data with the data in the database.

Database store - It stores the biometric data which can be recalled by the program to perform a comparison check.

Output interface - It communicates the decision of the biometric system.


Biometrics security can be classified as 

Biological biometrics involves analysis at a molecular level. For example, DNA, blood, urine, or saliva  

Morphological Biometrics involves a structure of the body like fingerprints, vein patterns, iris, retina, etc.

Behavioral Biometrics involves an individual’s unique patterns like voice recognition, signature, gestures, gait, etc.


Lined up in gaining popularity amongst organizations and individuals with a promise for secure authentication methods, will the widespread use of biometric security shield against the rising fraud in society?
